Slow Stitching

Hand Embroidery

Sundays, 14th, 21st and 28th January,15:00-17:30

Crafters Collective Copenhagen

Slow stitching is a movement within the world of embroidery that consists in enjoying the journey and experimenting with the possibilities of each step, discovering the results when we let it flow.

In this Slow Stitching Course Maria Meiga will guide you through different exercises into the art of embroidery, following the slow stitching philosophy and letting you enjoy the traditional techniques involved, reusing and experimenting with different materials.

Instead of focusing in the result, with hand embroidery, a technique that is naturally slow, we’ll focus on a repetitive process that requires you to be present while you connect with your body, your materials, your mistakes and your environment.

The workshop is perfect for those who have basic knowledge but want to explore it in a meditative and mindful journey or also for beginners, who never had contact with embroidery.

Maria Meiga is a graphic artist and art therapy postgraduate who works with illustration and design and explores the applications of embroidery as an artistic discipline as well as a therapeutic practice. You can check some of her work here: https://www.instagram.com/emedemeiga/

The course will take place on Sundays, 14ht, 21st and 28th January 15.00-17.30
