Introduction to Embroidery Art (for beginners)

In this Introduction to Embroidery Art you will learn some of the basic embroidery stitches and how to use them to create abstract and artistic works. It is the perfect course to introduce you to embroidery in a modern way and create an artistic and contemporary work.

Course is for beginners who have not had contact with embroidery or for those who have basic knowledge but want to explore it beyond traditional embroidery.

Maria Meiga is a graphic artist who works with illustration and design and explores the applications of embroidery as an artistic discipline. In the course, she will guide you through the techniques that allow you to embroider on fabric and experiment with textures, shapes, threads and basic embroidery stitches. You will learn about references and projects that inspire Maria Meiga to pick up the needle and start embroidering, you will make a sample of basic stitches and finally you will create an embroidery art work based on the stitches learned.

The course will take place Sundays of March (starting the 10th) from 16.00 to 19.00
