TEXTILE INSTALLATION “RAIN FOREST”, KILDEVÆLD KULTURCENTER (2023-2024)

The installation Rain Forest was created as decoration for Festival of Endless Gratitude 2023 decoration, where I worked not only with textile and different materials but also with lighting.

The festival was taking place at Kildevæld Kulturcenter, a library and cultural center in Østerbro, a neighbourhood in Copenhagen. The building is a public center, formed by three floors and connected through balconies that lead to different rooms. To transform the public space into an intime underground venue during the festival days was quite challenging, due to the look and feel of the municipality building and the big dimensions of it.

The installation was made with different pieces of fabric, that I cut, sewed and dyed with textile colours, combined with other materials that hanged from the balconies of the building. The lighting of the space for when it was dark was made using colour filters to match the colours of the fabrics.

Once the festival was over and, as a request from the municipality, “Rain Forest” remained as an installation for 3 months.
